Wood pellets — the group's newest line.

P&C produces wood pellets at its Shebin El-Koom Free Zone site. The line is still young: the current work is process development towards the quality level and certification that European buyers require.

The wood pellet activity grew out of the group’s Finnish wood business, begun in 2020, and is currently sold under the P&C name. Pellets are produced in Egypt at the Shebin El-Koom Free Zone.

Where the line is heading

Industrial and heating pellets are traded on their certified quality — the reference specification is ISO 17225-2, and the European market certification is ENplus (grades A1, A2 and B), which covers calorific value, moisture, ash content, fines, mechanical durability and raw-material traceability. Reaching and certifying that specification is the stated next step for the line; until then, pellets are offered on a bulk, specification-on-request basis.

In Finland the group owns the KARA sawmill at Rääkkylä, North Karelia, currently under restoration — intended, among other purposes, as a source of the sawdust and shavings that pellet production needs.
