About P&C Group

About

From a fuse factory in Quesna to a two-country industrial group.

Protection & Control Group was founded in 2009 to manufacture medium-voltage fuses in Egypt. More than fifteen years on it runs ceramics, copper and plating lines at home, an automation company in Finland and a composites plant in the Ismailia Free Zone.

Protection & Control Group (مجموعة الوقاية والتحكم) is an Egyptian manufacturer of electrical power transmission-and-distribution equipment — the medium- and low-voltage fuses, fuse bases, epoxy cast resin insulators, technical ceramics, panel heaters and hygrostats that protect distribution networks and switchgear — and the parent of an automation company in Finland and a composites plant in the Ismailia Free Zone. Its industrial minerals division in Aswan produces uncoated ground calcium carbonate and talc powder.

Founder

The group was founded in 2009 by Eng. Abdel-Moaty Gaafar, whose career began at the Aswan High Dam power plant and continued at ABB before he set up P&C to manufacture medium-voltage fuses in Egypt. He remains the group’s General Manager and is also Managing Director of FI-P&C Oy in Finland.

What makes P&C different

Vertical integration. Most fuse assemblers buy their ceramics. P&C fires its own — fuse tubes, fuse bodies and fuse bases — in two ceramics operations, casts its own epoxy resin post insulators, forms its own copper parts and runs its own silver, tin and nickel plating line. That control over every dielectric and every contact surface is why the products pass type tests and stay in service.

Proof, not promises. P&C fuses are type-tested for all sizes and ratings at an extra-high-voltage laboratory and carry EEHC approvals; the company’s quality system is certified to ISO 9001:2015. More than two million P&C medium-voltage fuses are installed in the Egyptian network.

A complete package. As authorised agent for ALCE instrument transformers, ICE NP900 relays, Ensto surge arresters and UNITRO FSB monitoring units, P&C lets a switchgear builder specify a full protection package from one supplier — and, through FI-P&C, the telemetry to monitor it.

Two countries, one group. Egypt gives the group its manufacturing base, its home market and its export routes into Africa and the Middle East; Finland gives it a European engineering company with fifty years of automation heritage.

History

Milestones.

How the group grew, one production line at a time.

  1. 1976

    The AutoLog® lineage begins

The first AutoLog RTU is designed and shipped in Finland by the company that later becomes FF-Automation Oy — the business FI-P&C carries on today.

  2. 2009

    P&C Group founded

Eng. Abdel-Moaty Gaafar establishes Protection & Control Group in Egypt and starts manufacturing 12 kV and 24 kV medium-voltage fuses.

  3. 2015

    Technical ceramics at Quesna

Own ceramics factory at Mubarak Industrial City — MV fuse tubes and bodies, LV fuse bodies and LV fuse bases fired in-house.

  4. 2016

    FI-P&C Oy, Finland

First international subsidiary: FI-P&C Oy is established in Valkeakoski and takes over the FF-Automation business and the AutoLog® brand.

  5. 2017

    Shebin El-Koom Free Zone

Second ceramics operation for export — LV fuse bases.

  6. 2018

    Low-voltage NH fuses

NH00–NH03 fuse-links and NH fuse bases (sizes 00–3) enter production.

  7. 2019

Space heaters · Finnish GRP technology

Panel space heaters join the range. Agreement to transfer Haki-Muovi Oy's GRP machinery and know-how to Egypt — the origin of HAKI P&C.

  8. 2020

    Plating line · wood

Silver / tin / nickel plating line added at Quesna. The group's Finnish wood venture begins.

  9. 2021

    Epoxy insulators · fault indicators

Epoxy cast resin post insulator production starts in Egypt; earth-fault and short-circuit indicators are launched in Finland.

Sites

Where the group produces.

Four sites in Egypt and one in Finland.

Egypt

Mubarak Industrial City, Quesna

P&C main plant — two factories, one site

Zone 2, Plots 55 & 121, Quesna, Minufiyah. Factory 1: technical ceramics — MV fuse tubes, MV fuse bodies, LV fuse bodies and LV fuse bases. Factory 2: copper forming & assembly, with the silver / tin / nickel plating line. Together they produce the full P&C protection range.

Egypt

Shebin El-Koom Free Zone

Ceramics for export · wood pellets

Export-oriented technical-ceramics production (LV fuse bases) under free-zone status, and the group's wood pellet line.

Egypt

Ismailia Free Zone (GAFI)

HAKI P&C — composites

GRP / GRV pipe, tank and pumping-station manufacturing on Finnish technology, licensed by the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones.

Egypt

Aswan Industrial Area

P&C — Industrial Minerals

Production base of the minerals division: uncoated ground calcium carbonate and talc powder, 3,000+ MT monthly capacity, 3–40 µm to customer specification. Talc from the Wadi Allaqi deposits (Aswan); calcium carbonate from the Eocene limestone of Beni Khaled and Samalout (Minya).
